Carol Ann Amato, 67, of Delray Beach died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 12, 2024 after a lifelong struggle with several illnesses, a recent broken hip and deterioration of her health. As a mother and grandmother to two daughters and 4 grandchildren she was proud of her children and her grandchildren.
Carol was born in Bronx, New York City on July 2, 1956 and baptized as a Roman Catholic at Our Lady of Grace Church. Her parents are, Stanley and Helen Klunder (deceased) and her brother, Stanley. Carol lived in NYC until she moved to Eastchester, NY, Danbury, CT until eventually moving to Florida, a resident for over 20 years.
Carol attended and graduated from St. Francis of Rome, Elementary School and Monsignor Scanlan High School both in New York. She was married to John Russo, (deceased) and Andrew Amato working with him in his Bakery and Delicatessen. She is survived by her children Angela Russo Cioffi (Joseph) and Helen Amato Mendonca and her 4 grandchildren; Amanda, Joseph, Anthony and Jaden. She was recognized by Terrance Cardinal Cooke in New York at St. Patrick’s Cathedral with a special award for her service to the Girl Scouts as a dedicated Scout Leader.
When Carol moved to Florida, her new calling in life was to provide therapeutic healing to patients as a healer of sore bodies. Attending Massage School, she became a licensed massage therapist and a Reiki practitioner. She worked at Five Star Hotels and at Massage Envy.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Avenue, Delray Beach, FL 33483. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, 10:30 AM at Emmanuel Catholic Church, 15700 South Military Trail, Delray Beach, FL 33484.
In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Delray Beach Firefighters and Paramedics Benevolent Fund in Carol Amato’s name or to your favorite local charity. The Paramedics were very helpful to Carol and they and the Firefighters deserve our support.
