Not sure what to say?

Dear Roger,
Sending you my love and sympathy. Carol was so wonderful and always very kind to me. You are both in my thoughts every day.

Our love goes out to Carol's family. She was a super - wonderful - wry humored - supremely intelligent - beautiful woman. A wonderful spirit. Our time in Maine together was so special. My whole family grieves with you all.

What a remarkable presence Carol was at Brearley. Her greatness will be sorely missed.

May memories of Carol keep her alive in our hearts always.

Carol brought so much joy as well as so much down-to-earth wisdom into my life. The times that I have spent with Carol and Roger are the happiest I have known.

Alice Bronnert, daughter-in-law

Carol and I met in 9th grade at Garden School and I had the pleasure of a personal 50th reunion at her home in Manhattan in 2006. Carol was so bright, funny and interesting. She was humble regarding her career, and I am so impressed with her connection with young people and education. Her devotion to Roger was visible and it was a pleasure to share her world for a few hours. She will be dearly missed but not forgotten.

So sorry to hear of Carol's death. She was ahead of me at Garden. A great influence and fun to be with. Sorry for the dangling participle!

Betsy Guthrie, Garden '59

I am so sorry to hear of Carol's death. I worked for her and Roger for several summers when their son John Henry was a little boy. Carol was funny, kind and so smart and treated a lonely teenager like a friend. She was also an amazing mother and wife. She loved in a very deep and lovely way.

I was so sorry to hear news of Mrs. Angell's death. She taught me, like so many others, to read, thereby opening the door to a never-ending realm of enchantment. She will be long remembered and much missed.
