Seth and Toby,

I just learned of your mother's passing. As you know, she and your father were my and my late wife's close friends since we met 50 years ago in Augusta. I mourn the loss of your mother, Carol. She was such a bright, engaging, multi-talented woman and fierce advocate of social justice. Her love of nature and the outdoors was memorable and her skiing right up to recently was inspiring.I treasure the memories of our families' outdoor activities together.

I first met Carol at Willowbank in Bermuda after the death of her son. Our paths have crossed many times since then here in Maine, where I came to know this quietly gracious, talented, and intelligent woman. Carol now has exchanged the pains of a broken and lonely heart without her son and husband for a peace and reunion, so richly deserved. May her memory be eternal.

So sorry to hear,via Prime Time, of Carol's passing. She is an old skiing buddy,both a very talented skier and an intelligent observer of the world. I will miss her.
