Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home Obituary

Carol Brogan, 76, of South Abington Township died at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania on Thursday evening. She was the widow of John Brogan, who died in 2005. The couple had been married 37 years.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Jane Hughes Morgan. She was a graduate of West Scranton High School. Prior to her retirement, she worked in accounting at Tobyhanna.

Carol enjoyed family get-togethers, daily facetime with her grandsons, and monthly luncheons with her friends. As a little girl, her grandfather, Luther, often took her to the firehouse to visit the Dalmatians. Many years later her children adopted a Dalmatian, who Carol aptly named Luther.  Luther was the best friend Carol didn't realize she needed. When Carol and Jack were young, they traveled and lived throughout Europe. More recently, Carol was able to revisit Spain and Wales, as she loved her Welsh heritage. Carol was devoted to donating to various charities such as Friends of the Poor.

Surviving are son Tim Brogan of Tannersville; daughter Julie Brogan and her companion Jesus Chevere of Miami, FL; sister Dianne Musgrave (Bill) and sister Sherri Maher; special cousin Shirley Coppola; brother-in-law Tom Brogan (Joan); brother-in-law Joe Brogan (Marlene); sister-in-law Mary Brogan; grandchildren Jace and Jaden Chevere of Florida; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit, with services by Rev. Dr. Elliott Cooke, pastor of Jackson Street Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Poor 2300 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA  18509.

Not sure what to say?

Carol & I went to grade school & high school together. She was always a gentle soul. Our sincere condolences. RIP Carol

Diane and family, I am so sorry for the loss of your sister. May she fly on Angel Wings and I pray the family all finds comfort in Our Lord.

I knew Carol from the depot. I can’t remember if she was in he same directorate, or if I knew her from the Women’s club. What I do remember is our lovely chats, her smile, friendliness, warmth and how much she lovingly talked of her family. Condolences to all her family.

Tim and Julie,
I am so sorry about the loss of your Mom. She was a wonderful friend and neighbor who adored her family. My sincere condolences go out to you and your family. May she RIP.

I'm so sorry to read of Carol's passing. We worked together in the Accounting Dept. at Tobyhanna. (so many years ago) Her desk was right behind mine and she was one who laughed a lot. We used to do a lot of that together. It was fun and very nice to be associated with her. She used to speak of her husband often.

My deepest condolences to the family.

I will cherish all the memories of you. I am very grateful to have had you in my life. I miss you very much. I know you are in eternal rest.

To the members of the Brogan family
I was a co-worker with your mom when she worked for Bell Tel of Pa. She was a wonderful friend during that time. I am deeply sorry for your loss and please accept my condolences.
