Geo. H. Rohde & Son Funeral Home - Cincinnati Obituary
On Wednesday, June 27, 2018, Carol Lockwood Hardin, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away at age 87 in Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida. Carol was born on April 9, 1931, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Howard and Jean Lockwood. Carol graduated from Miss Doherty’s College Preparatory School for Girls in 1949, and attended the University of Cincinnati, where she was a member of the Kapp Alpha Theta sorority. On November 17th, 1951, she married Oliver Hardin. They raised five children, Haven, Hilary, Howard, Todd and Terry. Carol was a person of faith and lived her life serving others through her involvement with the Cincinnati Junior League, sorority alumni, and various local philanthropic organizations. Whatever Carol was involved in, it was with gusto and enthusiasm. Her unbending support was always noticed at each and every activity of her five children logging innumerable miles carpooling in her station wagon. Everybody knew “Grandma” for her trademark cheers at her grandsons sporting events. She was also known as an outstanding bridge player among her lady’s bridge clubs in Ft. Lauderdale. Carol loved to dance and the only thing she enjoyed better than going to a party was having one. Carol was preceded in death by her son Todd and is survived by her husband, four children, thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on July 20th, 2018, at St. Rose Church, 2501 Riverside Dr, Cincinnati, at 9:30 a.m. with a burial service at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Ave. immediately following. In remembrance of Carol please make any contributions to the charity of your choice. Geo. H. Rohde & Son Funeral Home serving the family.

One of the things I clearly remember to this day is going to the wedding of Ollie and Carol. I was very young and I thought she looked absolutely beautiful. Her dress, her hair, the whole celebration to my little girl mind was like a fairy tale and I was there. I slept with the cake under my pillow. My deepest condolences to all the family in your tragic loss.

Thinking of you Ollie and Haven and sending my deepest sympathy for your loss. Carol was the family tree guru and researched the Noonan tree with determination and gusto. Many good memories including the fabulous party in the little house at SMU...we all had such a great time, the police were called! Carol loved all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren but suffered the pain of losing one of them.....now she is with her beloved son, Todd.
Fondest regards, Sharon...

My favorite memory of Carol was Christmas In Florida. She made me feel part of the family, picked me up at the airport, bought me presents and stayed up late talking! And I got to sign the famous table cloth. Sending much love to all the Hardins!
