Not sure what to say?

My deepest sympathies are with you and your family during this sad time. I worked with your mom for many years. Although we did not always agree on policy matters I believe that we both always respected each other's opinions. Carol was so well respected within DHR and the state. We were both pregnant around the same time with little girls who have grown up to be beautiful, strong women. I know your mother and father were both very proud of you. I wish Bill and I could be with you today but...

Lydia and Leah,
Carolyn and I are thinking of you and reflecting on the great memories we have of both your parents.
I remember vividly the first time I met your father. We were standing in line at registration for graduate school in the fall of 1972. We were perhaps standing next to each other because it was arranged alphabetically. In any case, we conversed at length and began a lifelong friendship.
In the 1970s Carolyn and were living in England and corresponded some...

When I was two years old, my cousin Carol was staying with our grandmother for the summer. Carol carried me around on her hip and taught me to say my birthday ("July 9"), and "Two years old!" We didn't get a chance to see each other often, but I am blessed to have stopped by Vestavia Hills on a cross country trip with my daughter so we could see family. As always, the years melted away in the warm embrace of Carol's hospitality.

It was a blessing to have Carol as an aunt. She was an example of how to live with purpose, integrity and love. She was present and helpful, especially to those in need and visionary looking to the day our world more fully aligned with God’s will.

I worked with Carol several years in mid-70s and learned much from her sharp mind and strategic thinking. Her supervision served me well over future years. My condolences to the family.

Carol was a true friend and mentor to me throughout my career at DHR. She held strong to her convictions, advocated for the elderly and disabled, and was truly respected by her colleagues in county, state, and national settings. She was so very bright and could quickly identify the real issues in social service situations. She will be missed but long remembered. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family.

Carol was certainly dedicated to those she served. She was also dedicated to improving DHR 's Adult programs. She loved her girls and was so proud of them. Prayers for the family.

Thoughts and prayers are with you guys and your families as you are going through these times. Your mom will be greatly missed.
