Carol was the perfect big sister and friend to anyone struggling with a test or term paper. Out of the blue while a few of us were eating lunch in Pomona's cafeteria she offered to look at my term paper and, in a few hours, organized and edited it sufficient for me to finish it and receive a B+ from a notoriously demanding professor of philosophy. She was kind and sweet to everyone and always offered uplifting insights.

Dear John, Candace and I were profoundly saddened to hear of you and your family's loss of Carol. Words, of course, can do little to help in your suffering and pain, but Carol was a wonderful person and she will be missed by many. Please let us know if you need any help this summer in Balazuc.

Laura, I wish I had met your mother. She sounds like a very special person. I am so sorry for your loss.

I am so thankful to have been blessed by Carol's friendship growing up in Lincoln, Nebraska. So much of who I am is a result of sharing those formative years with her. My heart is broken by this loss. Her spirit lives on in so many people!

Tom, we are so sorry for your loss.

De tout cur avec Laura, Christopher et John. Nous sommes très tristes d'avoir perdu cette amie très chère. Que de bons souvenirs en vacances aux quatre coins de la France et de l'Europe avec la famille Merriman. On ne se lassait pas d'évoquer les péripéties de ces aventures !
