Carol (Barnes) Morrell, 86, died Monday at Wingate in West Springfield. She was born in Rockville Center, Long Island, New York and has lived in West Springfield for 59 years. She received her Master’s in early childhood education and was the Director at Kids Place Daycare for many years. She was a longtime member of Mittineague Congregational Church where she sang in the choir and worked to reestablish the day care center. The children’s playground was named in her honor. Carol was an accomplished golfer and an avid bridge player. Her husband Charles G. Morrell died in 2005. She leaves a son Robert Everett Morrell and his wife Angela Kershaw Morrell of Fiskdale, a daughter Sarah Morrell of West Springfield and her two cherished grandchildren Mackenzie and Ian Morrell. The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 am at the Mittineague Congregational Church. No calling hours. West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mittineague Congregational Church Music Fund, The American Heart Association, to the M.S.P.C.C. or to the charity of one’s choice.
