Sovinski, Carol J.
Carol Jean Sovinski, 55, of Sherman Oaks, California, formerly of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest on April 27, 2016, following a short illness. Carol was born in Derby on Sept. 9, 1960, beloved daughter of Edward L. Sovinski and the late Jeanne Bartolotta Sovinski of Ansonia. She was a graduate of Ansonia High School, where she excelled in academics and basketball. She was the President of the National Honor Society, Ansonia chapter, and the catalyst in starting the girl's high school basketball team as a freshman in 1974. After obtaining the signatures required to petition the Board of Education to initiate the program at AHS, the team went on to win back-to-back state championships in 1977 and 1978. Carol attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston and went on to earn her law degree from Pepperdine University in CA. Carol began her career as an entertainment lawyer and most recently was the co-founder of Audiomachine, a digital music licensing company which she began as a start-up company in California and grew into an international business. The company specializes in original music and sound design for film, television and video games. Besides music, her biggest love was her family. She poured her heart and soul into her business, and greatly treasured her family. Carol will be deeply missed. In addition to her father, she is survived by two loving sisters, Susan Sovinski of Derby and Patricia Sovinski Kompare and her husband John of North Haven, a niece, Jenna Kompare, of North Haven, a nephew, Matthew Kompare, of North Haven, an uncle, Louis Bartolotta and aunt, Lillian Bartolotta, both of Ansonia, and an aunt, Myrtle Bartolotta, also of Ansonia as well as many cherished relatives and friends. Visiting hours will be held on Friday June 10, 2016, from 4-7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Saturday, her funeral will commence at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Church of the Assumption in Ansonia. Inurnment will immediately follow at the family plot in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia. Contributions in Carol's name may be made to The Carol Sovinski Memorial Award. Dear Ed , Susan and Patricia.
What an incredible life. Carol was a natural "Leader." The story of her role in initiating Girls' Basketball at AHS in the 1970s reflects her character. During her
journey she left indelible marks on the music industry, entertainment law and intellectual property. Yet, she never lost her modesty, her love of family, or sense of being. Thankfully, her life's journey would take her along our way. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy on your loss.
Sincerely,
Tom Clifford
