Carol L. Thomas, of Rhinelander, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services in Wausau, with her loving family at her side at the age of 58 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Laona, Wisconsin on September 20, 1957, the daughter of Thomas A. and Jean B. (Amann) Mihalko. Carol attend school in Crandon and was a 1975 graduate of Crandon High School. She moved to Rhinelander where she met her future husband, Curtis Thomas. The couple were united in marriage on July 30, 1977 at the United Methodist Church in Crandon. In 1978, Carol began her career with St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital. Her employment with the hospital lasted thirty-eight years, culminating with her being the Supply Chain Manager. She was currently employed at Shoeders Marine.
Carol will be remembered for giving back to the community. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the Food Pantry, Oneida County Fair, St. Augustine's Free Dinner, and the Crandon International Raceway. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Rhinelander.
Carol enjoyed gardening, boat rides, four wheeling, the outdoors, and going to the casino. But most of all, Carol loved her family, took great pride in all of their accomplishments and adored her three grandchildren.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband; Curt, daughters; Melissa (Jeremy) Lane of Rhinelander, and Crystal (Tatum) Neal of Weston, Wisconsin, three grandchildren; Aubrey, Parker, and Carter Neal. Also surviving are three sisters and one brother; Debbie (Bruce) Stefonik of Monico, WI, Kathy (Greg) Terzinski of Rhinelander, Mike Mihalko of Crandon, WI and Tina Mihalko of Crandon, WI and by two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; Cherri (Ron) Dahlvig of Rhinelander and Tammy (Scott) Hansen of Rothschild, Wisconsin. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
All are invited to attend a Celebration of Carol's Life on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Woodpecker Bar & Grille, located at 6776 Cty. Hwy. K.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Carol may be given to the family. A memorial will be established in her name.

Curt and family, I am so, so, sorry for your loss. I will keep you all in my prayers. I will be unable to attend the services as I leave for WA. on the 11th. I wish there was something I could do or say to help ease the pain. Just trust in the Lord and know that He has a plan for all of us.
