Caroline Elizabeth Buzzard, 93, of Pen Argyl, PA, passed away Thursday, April 28th, at Gracedale, Northampton County Home, Nazareth, PA.
Caroline was born in Pen Argyl, PA on September 9, 1922, a daughter of the late Minnie (Diehl) Remel and Hugh X. Hughes.
She was the widow of Warren R. Buzzard, who passed away in 1996. Caroline was employed as a floor worker at the former Aurora Capozzola Blouse Mill in Pen Argyl, PA, until retiring. She was a 1940 graduate of Pen Argyl High School. Caroline served as a former Judge of Elections for the Kesslersville District in Plainfield Twp., PA.
Caroline was a very active member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Belfast, PA, where she served as a past President and member of the Women's Guild, a former Sunday School Teacher, a choir member, a past Deacon and Elder and a delegate to the PNEC. Caroline was also a member of the Pen Argyl High School Alumni Assoc., member and former President of the Pen Argyl High School Band Boosters, former member and President of the PTA, a member and past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Charles Nelson Lobb American Legion Post in Pen Argyl, a member of UNITE, the garment workers union, a member of the Musical Arts Community Chorus in Easton, and a member of the Blue Valley Senior Center Choir.
Caroline is survived by three daughters, Anita M. Buzzard and Jeninne L. Buzzard, both of Pen Argyl, PA, Keri A. Renner and her husband Mark, of CT; a son, Thomas W. Buzzard, of Stroudsburg, PA, two daughter in laws Jean Buzzard, of Staten Island, NY and Melonie Buzzard, of Bethlehem, PA, 11 grandchildren Denise L. Callahan, Frederick C. Buzzard, Jr., Matthew T. Buzzard, Twins Nathan B. and Nicholas S. Buzzard, Jarrod Buzzard, Robert Buzzard, Patrick Buzzard, Alyssa A. Gendreau, Tyler J. Renner, and Jeremy Michaud Renner, 1 great grandson Daniel Robert Musselman. Caroline was predeceased by a daughter Dilys S. Emery, a son Frederick C. Buzzard, and a grandson John W. Buzzard.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 2nd at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, 471 Belfast Road, Nazareth, PA with Rev. Frank Gassler and Rev. Darlene Blocker officiating. Friends are invited to call 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 1st at the James B. Gaffney Funeral Home, 200 S. Robinson Ave., Pen Argyl, PA. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Bangor, PA.
