Caroline Margaret ""Lynn"" Matzen

Caroline Lynn Margaret (Barrera) Matzen, born on September 12, 1932 in New York, New York, to the late Gwendolen Schlaegel Jones MD and the late S. Eugene Barrera MD, passed away at age 85 on August 4, 2018 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Caroline graduated from Swarthmore College in 1954, Fieldston Highschool in Bronx New York in 1950, and attended Cornell University for graduate school. She pursued her career as a Librarian. She retired in 1994 after 25 years as Director of The Kingston Area Library. Caroline was the loving wife of the late Harry A Matzen. They married in September 1957 and celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2007 before Harry, a Professor at Ulster County Community College, died in 2008.She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Caroline Schlaegel Jones and Margaret McEvoy Barrera; and grandfathers, Dr. Thomas Jesse Jones and Severo D. Barrera. Caroline is survived by her brother, Kenneth E Barrera (Alice); and sisters, Gwenith Joan Hart (Barry) and Maureen Barrera.
