Smith, Bizzell & Warner Funeral Home Obituary

Carolyn Jones (nee Smith) was the sixth of seven children born to Eddie and Violet Smith June 13, 1945, in the city of East Chicago, Indiana.

Carolyn graduated from Washington High School in 1964. She was known as a sweet, kind and affectionate student and maintained those characteristics throughout her life.

Carolyn had an unwavering faith in God's promise and was baptized at the age of 15 in 1961. As a Jehovah's Witness her happiest experiences were in the preaching work and one of her favorite memories was attending pioneer school. She remained faithfully dedicated to Jehovah until she fell asleep in death.

At the age of 25 she married Gregory Jones and in the following years gave birth to Brandon and Miya Jones.  She took her role as a mother seriously and was diligent in teaching her children right from wrong, by word and by her sterling example.

Carolyn described herself as "a people person."  There is no better description of her character. Whether upon meeting someone new, an old friend, a relative or even a relative stranger, Carolyn was sincerely interested in learning about the person within.  She was like a “mother’ to the world.

She truly was a kind, generous and delightful person.

After 20 years in customer service at Sam's Club Carolyn retired in 2010. She was able to enjoy her retirement by seeing more of the world. She was able to travel by land, sea and air. Most importantly she used that time to fortify her relationship with her spiritual family and her Creator, Jehovah.

To mourn her passing she leaves her eldest brother, Selmon Smith, her children: Miya and Brandon Jones (wife Tracy), grandchildren Tyler Jones, Carter Jones, and Brandon Jones Jr., a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral discourse will also be held via zoom:

Not sure what to say?

Brandon and Miya - many memories of times with you all on many occasions. Deeply appreciated her love for Jehovah and the ministry. Hope to see her again in the new world to come and that to u may be comforted by the “Hod of all comfort”.

Caroline was such a good, gentle woman. She was also a lot of fun to be around. I will always remember our days at Sam's Club. She could make a boring, ordinary day fun just by her presence. I will miss her phone calls. Not only was she a coworker, she was also a friend. I will miss her.

My wife and I are very sorry for your loss. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. Carolyn was a very kind and loving person who loved Jehovah with all of her being. She will be missed.
“Agape”!!
