I worked with Carolyne when I was a secretary for Hood, Light & Geise. She asked me to serve on the Board of a Girls Club, work with YWCA, etc. Her presence was felt by those in attendance wherever she was...the office, a meeting or a party! It was great to have another tall gal, my age, in our world of men. My life changed; I lost touch with her, got married, had children, but never forgot the example she set. A woman certainly unlike anyone else I've ever known. Rest in peace, Carolyne.

Dudley, Smith family and PPO&S family, my heartfelt condolences to all of you. Carolyne gave me my start in the advertising business, and I learned a lot from her. Strong and tough, but a heart of gold for the under-privileged. She'll be missed.

I can't remember a single interaction with Carolyne that didn't make me a better professional. She gave freely of her time, knowledge, insight, and wit. She never failed to make waves, the ripples of which go on and on. I recall her being among the first to question why ovaries precluded Tuesday Club membership, and working as an early champion for the rebirth and development of our downtown while many were cynically skeptical.
