Carrie Lynn Russell, age 24 of Des Moines, passed away at her home on October 11, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 18 at the Windsor Heights Lutheran Church, 1240 66th Street, Des Moines, IA. Visitation will take place Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, IA. Interment will take place at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines, IA.
Carrie was born in Des Moines, Iowa on May 31, 1986 to Wayne and Rebecca (Eakins) Russell. She was baptized at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church. While attending McKinley Elementary, she met her lifelong friend, Melody Fatino. Following her education, she was employed at Target for seven years. Carrie enjoyed dancing, shopping, and hockey, along with spending some time at the nail salon. She also enjoyed her collection of Care Bears. She had a passion and love for purses and her dog, Crumb. The family and friends will always remember her for her caring and warm-hearted personality, making everyone smile.
She is survived by her parents, Wayne and Rebecca Russell; sisters, Jody (Bryon) Sorter, Jennifer (Jeremy) Ferdig, Stephanie (Troy) Jeffries; grandparents, Keith and Edna Eakins and William Russell; along with the Fatino family. She is also survived by her aunts, uncles, cousins, and her dog, Crumb. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Evelyn Russell; aunt, Cheryl Eakins, and great-grandparents, Mamie and Alva Baldwin.
