Carrie E. Smith, 86, of Wind Gap, formerly of Pen Argyl and Nazareth, passed away, Saturday, March 14, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital, Anderson Campus surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late Ralph L. Smith.
Born in Bethlehem, October 29, 1939, she was the daughter of the late, Mamie (Lockard) and Melvin A. Rasley, Sr.
Prior to retiring, Carrie was employed as a seamstress for various garment mills and was a member if the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union.
Carrie and Ralph enjoyed going to the Nazareth football games and cheering on their favorite football teams on TV. She enjoyed spending holidays with family and hosting summer picnics, working in her gardens, and mowing the lawn with her riding mower.
She is survived by a loving, extended family: sister-in-law, Catherine N. Rasley, nieces, Deborah Eyer and husband Bill, Ann Lehman and husband Ron, nephew, Brian Rasley, step-nieces, Sharon Lang, Bonnie Wagner and husband Terry, Becky Batchelor, Carol Fry and husband Dennis, step-nephews Dennis Voorhees, Earl Voorhees, Jr. and wife Sheri, and Daryl Voorhees and wife, Kaye. Carrie is also survived by several great-nephews and nieces and extended family who also remember her love and laughter.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin A. Rasley, Jr., sister, Jennie Kasebier, and stepsiblings, Earl Voorhees, Carl Voorhees, Fay Hoffman, and Jane Gower.
A viewing will begin at 10 AM on Friday, March 20, 2026 at The Bangor Church of the Nazarene, 150 Bunny Trail, Bangor; a funeral service will follow at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Pen Argyl. The Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, Pen Argyl is in charge of arrangements.
