Carroll A. Hughes

Was not enough in the loop to hear at the time, but my warm regards to Señora Hughes' family and extended family of students and colleagues whose lives she touched in fundamental ways. As a now Full Professor at Allegheny College, translator and wife of an historian, I am consstantly reminded of Señora Hughes, her warm, smiley dignitity and intellect live on in others. I am so heartbroken to hear of the passing of Mrs. Hughes. She was my mentor and beloved Spanish teacher. It was because of her I chose my career as a Spanish teacher. I feel blessed that I saw her recently & was able to thank her again. Whenever my students asked me why I became a Spanish teacher, I would tell them about my very special experiences as her student-how much she encouraged & challenged me to go above & beyond.
