Not sure what to say?

Carroll's William & Mary family mourns. There was no more steadfast and devoted champion among the ranks of our alumni. His vision for the College was to achieve excellence on all fronts, from VIMS to the "ancient campus" to the legacy of James Monroe and his home, HIghland and so much more. The College and its family are changed for the better because of what Carroll and Patty have done over the years. We are deeply grateful and honor his memory.
Jeff Trammell, Rector Emeritus

It is with sympathy and sorrow that I have learned of the passing of Carroll, a dear friend from the past. We first met many years ago on the football fields, when he played for Maury, and I for Granby. We then chummed together at Summer School 1957, which that year was at Maury. He loved his home in Alexandria and was often seen on the grounds taking in the tall trees and mature landscaping. He was passionate about all things William and Mary,...

My deepest, deepest condolences to Patty Owens and the entire Owens family. Wrapping you all in peace, comfort, strength, and love at this difficult time and in the days ahead. Carroll Owens' love for his family, alma mater, Tidewater, and Chesapeake Bay were unwavering. I am heartbroken for you all. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers. Love.

Carroll and I were neighbors and Taylor Elm. Sch. and Blair Jr. HS classmates. We "ran" together with others from the Ghent neighborhood on bikes and on foot. I particularly remember him as a frequent tennis partner/opponent on the public courts, among my fond memories of our times together. I regret that I had not kept up with him over the years when my family moved north and I went to HS and college in New England. I was not aware that he and I lived in proximity when I move to Arlington...
