Not sure what to say?

Wow- 3 years have gone by, but the memories are still quite vivid ! When we think of Dee, he emulates this in our hearts: " People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, But people will never forget HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL"! Love you and miss you, Maurice and Irene Heikes Kristal and Kevin Heikes and families

Always think of you and Bill. Un gran abrazo! J~

I am so sorry for your GREAT loss. My prayers are with his family. I coached the Salida girls golf team and Dee was always there for me and my girls. We thought the world of him. He has touched many lives, truly a legend and will be missed by many. My girls favorite coach, from another school he was there to assist ALL! Rest in PEACE, till we meet again! CJ Argys

I grew up playing sports with the Betts brother's, often coached by their father Lou. I also worked a summer with their mother Doris at the old J. C. Penny store. A wonderful and caring family. Dee was a fine athlete with a magnetic personality and great sense of humor. He touched the lives of many young athletes during his coaching career. Rest in peace my teamate and friend.

When Dee got his teaching certificate, his first job was at Walsenburg High School. I was a Freshman. My locker was right outside his door on the south end of the first floor. I must have spent thousands of hours with this man over the years as a player, scout, camp assistant and basketball official. He was a one of a kind character. But he brought to our high school basketball team the insiders way to winning. We had winning records all four years as I was there. We went to Districts...

I grew up playing sports with the Betts Brothers often coached by their dad Lou. I worked a summer at J. C. Penny's (remember them?) With mom Doris. One of the truly wonderful and caring families loved by everyone. Dee was a fine athlete who enjoyed competing in all sports. His magnetic personality and sense of humor lit up every room he entered. Always had a story. I was fortunate to be able to know him and his family. Rest in peace my friend
