Owens and Brumley Funeral Home - Wichita Falls Obituary

Cary B. Farris of Wichita Falls, TX, passed from his earthly home into the arms of his Lord and Savior on February 19, 2024. Funeral services for Cary will be held at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home, 1317 9ht Street, Wichita Falls, Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 1:00pm. A visitation with the family will be held immediately following the service.

Cary was born on May 20, 1966 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Lydia McClendon Farris and Robert Wayne Farris. When Cary was 6 years old his mother married Don Wilson who would become a beautiful father figure to the young boy. Cary graduated from Walters High School in 1984. As Salutatorian of his class, Cary moved to Lawton, Oklahoma to Cameron University attending with a full scholarship.

From a young age, Cary showed a fascination for cars which eventually led him to career spanning over 42 Years. He worked in various aspects of the automobile business. Not only did the automobile business provide Cary with a job he loved, it also led him to the love of his life, Evelyn Hargis who was working for an automobile repair business at that time in Wichita Falls. Cary was a little shy but once he asked Evelyn for a date it took him no time to know he wanted this lovely woman to be his life partner. Six months after their first date Cary & Evelyn married on February 7, 1992, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She remained the love of his life until his death.

The automobile business may have brought them together, but their mutual love of the Lord allowed their love to grow.  Cary had an enormous servant's heart, influencing many others to follow Christ. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, a loving son and son-in-law always leading by example and not just with words. He was a hard worker, a true friend and a faithful servant of his Lord.  Cary and Evelyn worked faithfully together fostering and mentoring many who needed help.

Cary was preceded in death by his father, Robert Farris, his step-father, Don Wilson who raised him, his grandparents Jessie Paul and Billie Farris and Forrest McClendon and Susiella Mansel.

Loving family surviving Cary are his wife, Evelyn of Wichita Falls, TX, daughter Randi Woods (Scott) of Virginia Beach, VA, son Joshua Walker of Wichita Falls, TX, daughter Sheila Cofer of Atlanta, GA. Also surviving are three grandchildren Caden, Caley and Brecken whom he adored. Also, his mother, Lydia Wilson, brother, Forrest (Joy) Wilson and nephews Wyatt and Wade all of Walters, Ok.  Also surviving is an uncle, Bill Farris (Ann), Lawton, Ok, and an aunt, Pam Creekmore (Reggie), of Duncan, Ok; Father-in-law, Rev. Charles Leo Hargis, brothers-in-law, Charles Hargis (Lisa), Henrietta, Tx and Derrell Hargis (Herma Dawn), Boley, Ok; as well as, extended family members and a host of friends that loved Cary dearly.

Not sure what to say?

Cary was a special friend to us. He taught my husband and I different things. He showed me how to minister to people and love the unlovable. I went with him on Adopt A block Saturdays, and he basically would say, “ disregard whether people cuss or not.”” You can’t minister to someone and correct the words they use.” My husband went to Cary & Evelyn’s “small group,” and he looked to Cary as a spiritual Father. he said Cary taught him how to love himself, and how to view his circumstances...

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.-Karla&Kenn Blackwood

I first met Cary and his wife Evelyn at Evangel Temple Church. I was impressed with his love for his wife. You could tell that he adored her. I was impressed with the way that they served the Lord together and you could tell that they were a team in ministry and in life. The joy of the Lord always shown on their face. I also seen their light so shine at City Hope Church. My prayers go out to the family.
