Catherine "Cathy" Anne Bever

June 19, 1950 - January 11, 2025

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Sara Bever, and her twin brother, David Bever. She is survived by her siblings, Martin (Jean) Bever, Mary (Jeff) Trabue, Louise (Tony) Redden, and Bill (Stacey) Bever, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.

Catherine was raised in Somerset, Ohio. Catherine graduated from Holy Trinity Grade School in Somerset, OH, and St. Aloysius Academy in New Lexington, OH for high school. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education from Ohio Dominican College and earned a master’s degree in higher education from the University of Dayton. Catherine taught many years in the Catholic school system and was an assistant principal for Bishop Leibold School in Dayton OH. Catherine moved to Cincinnati to be Director of Teacher Certification for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Catherine was passionate about Catholic education, and the faith formation it provided, and worked tirelessly to support teachers and students.

Catherine loved spending time with her family and her many nieces and nephews. Her love and care for others was shown to her family by countless thoughtful deeds, and certainly brought joy to everyone. Catherine cherished time with her wide circle of friends, whom she loved dearly.

For many years, Catherine served in the music ministry with Incarnate Word Charismatic Community in Dayton. She loved music, including playing the piano, organ and guitar, teaching piano lessons and sharing her love of music with others.

Catherine’s Catholic faith was a central part of her life. Her example of selfless love and service is an inspiration to all.

Not sure what to say?

Rest in peace Cathy. I hope you are playing your guitar with the angels.

It was with great sadness that I saw Cathy’s obituary in the Dayton Daily News yesterday. I have known Cathy as a co-teacher, mentor, administrator and best of all, a friend since 1975. Our paths crossed many times through the years and I was always greeted with a big smile, kind words and a hug! She inspired me to believe in the solid education we provided to students in Catholic Schools through out so many years. She was at my wedding!

To Cathy’s family, thank you for...

So sorry to hear of Cathy’s passing.
Working with Cathy at Bishop Leibold School in Dayton, Ohio was such a pleasure. She was such a kind person, a good teacher, and a very hard worker.
My sympathy to all her friends, and she will be greatly missed.

She was my 8th grade teacher at Queen of Martyrs school. She was a wonderful person and great teacher. May you rest in peace .

Cathy was a wonderful person and a great assistant principal when I was principal of Bishop Leibold School from 1979-1986. I was hoping to see her at the upcoming 50th anniversary of Bishop Leibold School on March 2nd.

Cathy was a truly gifted educator who touched the lives of our children. She was an inspiration to all and her contributions to Catholic education were numerous. Her passing is a loss to all who knew her. Our condolences to her family. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I worked with Cathy at Bishop Leibold. She was always the kindness ,sweetest person.

We never did get that golf game in, but I will always be grateful for the help and support you gave me when I was a principal. Rest in peace, Cathy!
