Catherine E. (Messinger) Geiger, 93, of Slatington, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the home of her daughter Karen with whom she was residing. She was the wife of the late Bruce R. Geiger. Born in Palmerton, August 9, 1931, Catherine was the daughter of the late Warren A. Messinger, Sr. and Florence (Thomas) Messinger. She was a graduate of the former Slatington High School, Class of 1949.  Catherine was a food service worker at the former Neffs Hotel and the former Handwerk’s Restaurant in Slatington before retiring.  She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Slatington.


Survivors: Children, Brian K. Geiger (Debbie) of Slatington, Karen J. Parks (Gary) of Slatington, Bonnie K. Rodgers (Karl) of Lehighton, Michael B. Geiger of Altoona; brother, Ronald Messinger (Carol) of Virginia; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; predeceased by a daughter, Dawn I. Herman and brothers, David, Clifford, and Warren Messinger.


Service: Funeral services will be held 7:30 pm. Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville. Family and friends may pay their respects from 6:30 pm. – 7:30 pm. prior to the service.  Private interment at Union Cemetery of Slatington.  Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com. 


Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (General Fund) c/o the funeral home, P.O. Box # 196, Schnecksville, PA  18078-0196.

May God Bless Aunt Case as I will always cherish the days she took me in during our family tragedy and all the memories of being welcomed in her home making me always feel special! She treated me with kindness and I will forever love her for her taking me under her wing! My deepest sympathy to my cousin as you all are a great group! My deepest sympathy to all cousins: Karen, Bonnie, Brian and Mike. We lost a very talented and giving person. Will cherish and remember all the beautiful items she made and gave for gifts and our family reunions. She was also a active church worker. Aunt Cass you will be truly missed. God Bless. Our condolences to the late Catherine's family. She was always a kind and nice woman full of life, when we would see her with Karen at the New Country View Diner. May she rest in peace.
