Catherine Kando, 94, of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2022. She was the wife of the late Moses Kando, whom she married in 1953. Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Nahim and Eva (Shaccal) Azrak.


Catherine was a lifelong parishioner of St. Basil the Great Melkite Church. She was the former president of St. Basil’s Altar Sodality, St. Basil’s Fellowship and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the recipient of the “Cross of Jerusalem” from the Melkite Eparchy of the United States. Catherine was an avid bowler and loved to travel throughout the world. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.


Catherine is survived by her children: Robert Kando, Patricia Serabian, Kenneth Kando, Janice Kando, Kathleen Kando, Charles Kando, Joan Kando Costa, and Judith Kando Ferriera. She also leaves her grandchildren: Robert and Benjamin Serabian; Daniel, Charles (Moe), and Stephen Kando; Amy and Eva Pickering, Michael, Lance, and Shay Costa; Jacob, Payton, and Mary-Catherine Ferriera, and her great-granddaughter, Kali Serabian. She was the sister to Barbara Colicchio and the late Rev. Albert Azrak and George Azrak.


Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Basil the Great Church, 15 Skyview Drive, Lincoln, Wednesday, April 13th at 10AM. The burial will be private.


Visiting hours are on Tuesday, April 12th, from 4-7PM, in St. Basil the Great Church.


In lieu of flowers, donations in Catherine’s memory, to St. Basil’s Building Fund, 111 Cross St., Central Falls, RI 02863, or to The Pawtucket Soup Kitchen, 195 Walcott St., Pawtucket RI 02860, would be greatly appreciated.
