KOSMECKI, Catherine E. (Streit) 1940-2007

After a three-year fight with lung cancer, Cathie Kosmecki of Portland passed away April 26, 2007. She was 66 years old, and as spunky as ever. Born in Chicago in 1940, she moved to Portland with her parents, Arthur and Hertha Streit, and her brother,...

Not sure what to say?

Not a day goes by that i dont think about/miss my mom! She was the best mom i could ever dream of having. She was always bringing joy and laughter to our hearts. Especially around holidays. She was humble and never said a bad word about our father, and raised 4 kids on her own. She is the strongest person ive known. She never gave up on me, eventhough most would with the stuff i did. I can say wholeheartedly that she is looking down from heaven happy. We have good talks when i go visit her...

I can’t believe it has been 14 years already. Still think about my mom all the time and how wonderful she was. Much love and blessings to everyone else who remembers her well too.

Our prayers are with you

Cathie was a special lady. She used to say it was good to be the Queen when she was getting pampered by everyone who cared so much for her. She touched many people with her quiet voice of humor. I looked forward to our weekly visits when I could be there to help and just pass the time talking these past few years. I used to watch the kids when they were young and it was an honor to be there for her when times grew difficult. She will be very much missed - especially by her group of friends...

Catherine and I met in 5th grade at Holy Redeemer Grade School. We practiced softball in my backyard. She became a very good picher and I was the catcher. Every summer we picked berries to earn money for school clothes. At the end of the summer season, we would spend a day downtown shopping and go to a movie. It was always great fun. Her sense of humor and kindness were always an integral part of her personality. Thanks for the good times...and the joy.

Catherine was my good friend since 5th grade, we went to Holy Redemmer grade school and Imaculata High School. I have great memories from all the card games and kids Birthday party's. The past 3 years have been a joy. Deanna & I took Cathie to the beach twice, evan went to the Casino (Cathie was the lucky one.) Jeri, Deanna, Ann and myself spent many wonderful times with Cathie. My daughter Lea was also a wonderful friend to Cathie since she was able to fill in for me...

Though I am comforted by the thought that my mom is in a better place, I miss her so very much and so do my kids. I am very touched by all the people that love her and appreciated her sense of humor. I know that she would have really enjoyed all the beautiful flowers at her service. I am proud to say that she is my mom.

I am very saddened by Cathie's passing. My heartfelt sympathy goes to her children, grandchildren and brother, Bob, whom I was married to for 23 years. We had fun times together at family gatherings. She was just fun to be around! She was a wonderful aunt to my 3 children. She truly will be missed by those who knew her. Lydia Streit

Cathie was my sister-in-law, who was more like a sister to me. I met her in 1983 and truly enjoyed her company all these years. She did the "Thanksgiving" and "Christmas Eve" every year. I will miss her so very much. Hope to see her later and have a few laughs.
