Celeste and family, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. While we did not have the pleasure of knowing your Kate, what we knew of her is a testament to giving and caring person who obviously cared so much for others, a rare and beautiful creature in an all too troubled world. She was a gift to the universe and those who knew and love her;taken all too soon. Love, John & Kim

I worked with Kate at St. Joseph Center. She was so quick witted, smart and committed to the cause of ending homelessness. While words can't possibly express the anguish you feel, may you find some comfort in the knowledge that Kate touched many lives and left the world a better place for having been here. My sincere condolences.

I worked with Kate at Thresholds in Chicago several years ago and my deepest sympathies go out to her son, husband, parents, sister, and everyone else whose lives she touched. Kate's dedication to helping others was engrained in her. Her sincere, kind, and selfless work has helped countless people. I wish I had known her better. Kate will truly be missed. Heidi Tansley

My wife and I met Kate and August briefly at the 1st Stage benefit. In our few moments with her, and in the glow on Alex's face whenever he spoke of her, we felt the presence of her beautiful spirit. “Tragedy,” a word too often used carelessly by the media, hits us with its full power at this moment and we are deeply saddened.
