Not sure what to say?

Having not seen 4-alpha-juliet in many many years, I paused and smiled when this old friend appeared on the Cameron Park ramp.

This is shocking news. I´ve known Rick for over 30 years beginning with the aero club at McClellan AFB. I´ve used him as a DPE and stayed in touch occasionally. He will be missed

I am so very sorry to hear this, Rick was an incredible help to me, and a great friend. I was try ting to reach him as we will be in Sacto in late Sept. Jay (Crazy Jay)

Rick was a Naval Aviator, officer, Marine: Capt. Savage, Coast Guardsman: CDR Savage, flight instructor, mentor, aviation savant, flying wizard, husband, father, brother, son, "Vicious", Captain/Doctor Savage, Rick, and friend. He literally was able to transcended all facets of aviation, both military and civil aviation, and mystically many aspects of life and culture. There was a vary charismatic, whimsical depth to Rick and he would never let an opportune prank or practical joke escape. His...

Angela and Nick, may you have great memories of the good times. I'll never forget the time I met you at the fuel pump Angela! Your dad was the best instructor I've ever had. I learned so much from his wisdom. May you both have strength and peace.

Wow. I am so sad to hear this. Rick was an amazing person and pilot. I looked up to him and he was my mentor. Rick was our Chief Instructor at the MCC USAF Aeroclub in Sacramento (1997-1998)

I was so fortunate to meet Ric some 30+ years ago. A great instructor, mentor and, most important, a good friend. Ric was the "instructor´s instructor," and our GA community has lost a corner post. He made me a better pilot. My condolences to the Tribe of Savages. - K

Rick, was truly one of kind. He was my friend and mentor for 28 years. He was a prankster, a patriot, and the most talented aviator I ever met. He also had the unique ability and skill to really teach and thoroughly enjoyed doing so. He relished being in the air, but also loved his cat, his kids, and Star Trek. I will always be indebted to him and the time and knowledge he invested in me. I am one of thousands of pilots that are Rick´s legacy and I will think of him often when I touch the sky.

Such a unique person! He added a different kind of color to our world. You will be deeply missed. RIP, Rick
