Landess Funeral Home, Inc. - Campbell Obituary

Campbell – Cecil Glen Freed of St. Peters, MO passed away on Thursday March 26, 2026.  He was born on November 16, 1934, in Hagarville, Arkansas to Marvin Cecil and Eunice Marie (Sparks) Freed.  He was proceeded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 66 years, Elizabeth Roberta Freed, brother Charles (Anita) Freed, and Sister Doris (Milton) Overstreet.

He is survived  his children, Pamela Freed, Michael (Susan) Freed, Sherry (Brad) Robinette, Larry (Kelly) Freed and Lisa (Jim) West; he was a cherished grandfather of Bryan (Valerie) Freed, Jason (Katherine)Freed, Ryan (Danelle) Robinette, Kristin (Billy) Gossett, Nicholas (Britney) Freed, Corey (Erin) Robinette, Danielle (Rob Hashemi) West, Allison (Christopher Brummitt) Robinette, Abigael (Nicholas) Eastwood, Collin (Amira) Freed, Justin (Hayley) Freed and Emma West.  A Treasured Great- grandfather of Kameron, Elise, Paige, Maximus, Cole, William, Reed, Maggie, Drake, Charlotte, Hannah, Caroline, Elsie, Robbie, Ruby, Fletcher, Eleanor and baby Freed.  He is also survived by loving brothers, Marvin Edward (Barb), Danny, Arvin (Tanya), Ken (Rita), and Wayne (Becky), as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Cecil was the oldest of 8, and very much the Patriarch of the Freed family. He and his brothers loved being together and there was always a lot of fun-loving teasing going on. He loved having his family around him and entertaining everyone with his stories. Although the grandkids had heard his stories many times, they loved listening to them one more time.

He retired from a long career with General Motors in 1987 and never looked back. He loved fishing, gardening, traveling with Bert, Jim and Mary Meatheany, and visiting with his family as well as the rest of his Meatheany in-laws (Helen, Doyle, Lu, Opal, Atlas, Hazel, Ralph).  He will be missed, but we are comforted knowing that he is reunited with Bert, and that his stories will live on in our hearts forever.

Funeral service will be at 1:00, Saturday April 4, 2026, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell, MO, with Reverend Jeff Roever officiating. Burial will follow in Elder Cemetery, Campbell, Missouri.

Landess Funeral Home and Crematory of Campbell is in charge of the arrangements.
