Not sure what to say?

I met Cecil when I drove my Uncle Steve who had flown in from Kansas to visit him in Irvine years ago. He played the piano for us during the visit and was such a gracious host. He stayed in touch after my uncle passed away a few years ago. He was such a kind soul.

I knew Cecil for 40 years, as he was a friend of my father, John Coates, and gave the eulogy at my father's funeral. We communicated once or twice a year after my brother and dad passed. I would always get a postcard or letter(maybe with a clipping) and I would call him to check in. He and my dad both enjoyed piano, culture, friends, food, and raucous laughter! He was a familiar face in my life, always present and adored by my entire family. He was family to me. He never complained so I...

Cecil was my very best friend and I will certainly miss him. He had a brilliant mind and was so witty, and I don’t know anyone more literate and able to discuss a variety topics. He was an excellent teacher and taught piano to many young musicians as well as many adult learners. Cecil was open and friendly and made friends where ever he went. He was a loyal friend to many and he will be sorely missed.

I met Cecil through my partner Keith and I always looked forward to sharing great times with him. Whether it was celebrating birthdays, getting together for breakfast and dinners, spending time with Cecil was always a blessing. May our warm, fond memories of him ease the pain of losing such a distinguished gentleman. May you forever rest in peace dear Cecil.

Cecil has been a beloved part of our family since I was born, always bringing warmth and joy to our gatherings. His friendship with my grandfather was incredibly inspiring, reflecting loyalty and respect. May God grant peace and comfort to his loved ones as they navigate this loss, and may Cecil´s legacy live on through the beautiful memories we shared and the lives he touched.

Cecil was the brightest star in my life and shone the brightest for many others who knew him.
