Cecil Painter, age 81 of LaVergne, TN died Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at StoneCrest Medical Center. He was a native of Davidson County, TN and was a son of the late Buford and Mary Crafton Painter.


Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Faye Hiland Painter; their children, Suzanne Cornwell and husband Bobby of LaVergne and Michael Painter; grandchildren, Ryan Painter and wife Katelyn Ann, Savannah Henderson and husband Michael, Garrett Cornwell, Benjamin Painter, and Nathan Painter; a brother, Randy Painter and wife Maxine of Bell Buckle; a sister, Barbara Tidwell of Murfreesboro; former daughter in law, Karen Painter; and a host of other loving family and friends.


Mr. Painter was a member of Gilroy Church of Christ. He owned Cecil’s Automotive in LaVergne for many years. He later retired from the City of LaVergne Parks and Recreation Department in 2011 after 18 years of service.


Visitation with the family will be at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 4:00 until 8:00pm. Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna and burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Couldn't make visitation, had flat tire twice in one day just before coming down, Cecil very nice person, good to my parents, always welcomed me at Gilroy and Lavergne Church

my wife(marion) and I moved across the street from cecil /faye in the summer of 1988..we were greeted with hugs/smiles..welcomed to the neighborhood..they embraced my children and grandchildren..watched them grow and move on..cecil and I shared stories,tools,and meals..the TRUE meaning of neighborly..we've recently moved to missouri..one of the things I miss most is our morning chats at the mailbox...and now even more so..Cecil..we're going to miss you..faye, you and the family, be...
