Not sure what to say?

I just learned of his passing, he was my Daddy's 1st cousin,( John V. Sargent 2nd). I saw him playing trumpet with three other guys as a quartet at his home in Atlanta alot of years ago. They were having a cookout and alot of people I didn't know were there. I know he will be greatly missed.

I just learned that Cecil passed away a couple years ago. I remember him and his family from Fortified Hills Baptist Church. He was several years older than me but I remember his parents were tragically killed in an automobile accident. My dad was the music director at that church as an avocation...and had gone to Georgia Tech to study mechanical engineering. Cecil performed here in Louisville with Mancini and took me and my husband back stage to meet Mancini. What a thrill! These are late...

I was so sorry to just now reading of Cecil´s passing. He was one of my favorite people. For years he recommended me as music copyist for several important artists. and he was my insurance agent for decades. My deep condolences for your loss.

Barbara & family: Cecil & grew up together in Atlanta - playing trumpet in many bands and events. I have kept in touch with his great career via the internet. We talked by phone a few years ago when he was in Houston. I am shocked & saddened to learn of his passing. Fond memories! Best to you for comfort in the days ahead. Gary Bond, Houston TX

Dear Barbara & family, I reflect upon the opportunities to share the love of music with Cecil and you, as well as some of the boys. I am so honored to have met you all and I will forever cherish the melodies we shared together. I know we will play together again and take comfort in that blessed promise. Love to all. Cheers & blessings! Collin [email protected]

Our deepest sympathy to Barbara and all of our Welch cousins! As one of Cecil's 1st cousins, I had the pleasure and privilege of attending many concerts, jam sessions, shows, and other musical events from the time I was a young boy and into my senior years to hear Cecil play his trumpet. He will always be remembered by extended his family as exceptional, kind, and a brilliant musician. I have his music CD's to keep the memories alive! When the time comes for Gabriel to Blow His Horn, I'm...

Dear Barbara and family, I'm so sorry to hear of Cecil's passing, but I know he's in the place of the blessed, adding his talents to the angel band. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers in the days to come.

Cecil and I began trumpeting as elementary aged boys. When we reached high school we went seperate ways. Later in life I became aware of his contiuned musical career. Amavingly, having again heard his sound my recolletion of our earlier friendship emerged. My sense is that the boy I knew as a "sweet guy" in the best of terms prevailed throughout his life. We all have to leave but his talent lives on in those who were fortunate in hearing and knowing him.

Our hearts go out to the Welch family....I don't hear a trumpet play that we don't remember Cecil standing before us, lifting his music to other worlds. On a personal note, he and Barbara were always welcoming us to their home, and sharing our passions for our boys. We love you all and will certainly continue to remember this remarkable man.
