Las Cruces – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our matriarch, CECILIA R. ZAMARRIPA, fondly known as Ceci or Chata, of Mesilla, New Mexico, she was 85 years old when she entered eternal life on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
She was born August 23, 1940, in Mesilla, New Mexico to Juan and Amelia Ramirez. For many years, Ceci was part of El Groupo Cultural, who organized all the fiestas in Mesilla. She worked and retired from Region 2 EMS as an Administrative Assistant and continued serving her community through working with Hillcrest Cemetery and Grahams Mortuary. She took great pride and joy in all her clients while she worked for Tresco. She made many friends, held great parties, and enjoyed listening and singing along to Mariachi music.
Cecilia is survived by her children: Michael Zamarripa, Patricia Zamarripa-House (Lloyd), Sharon Hollimon (Tuck), Susan Perez (Jimmy), and Christina Zamarripa, 10 grandchildren,19 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Amelia Ramirez, and her siblings and their spouses, David and Arciria Ramirez, Celia and Angel Medina, Armando Ramirez, and Johnny Ramirez.
Casket bearers are Jon-Michael Hollimon, Ryan Hollimon, Sage Zamarripa, Jon-Coasta Zamarripa, Jaden Rodriguez, Gavin Russell, and honorary bearer Jacob Zamarripa.

Visitation will be at the Basilica of San Albino on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 5 PM followed by the recital of the Rosary at 6 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at the Basilica of San Albino on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 11:30 AM followed by the burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue.

Cecilia will be missed greatly. She was always very sweet and kind. She was one of my mom's closest and dearest friends (EVA) They truly had a great bond and friendship. That is a hard thing to come across nowadays. God bless you Cecilia it was an honor having you as a part of our family. Rest in Peace.
