E.S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel, Inc. Obituary

Cedric Lamar Walker passed June 3, 2024, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born October 10, 1979, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas to Charles & Evelyn Walker.

He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated from Metropolitan Advanced Technical High School in 1998. Cedric held two full-time jobs most of his adulthood until his health began to fail. He worked at various companies throughout the Kansas City area until he was hired by the United States Postal Service in 2005 as a Mail Handler. Cedric retired on disability in 2018. He also started a career in 2006 at Wendy’s and was a shift manager until he was called home.

He gave his life to Christ at an early age, joining Friendship Baptist Church on October 21, 1990.

He enjoyed traveling, helping others, spending time with his family and friends, and two-stepping. Cedric was part of the KC Coolers (a former two-stepping group) and spent countless hours teaching others and performing. He also had a love for vehicles and could tell you just about anything about them, especially Dodge Durangos.

Cedric fought a great fight against multiple health issues for several years. He will be remembered most for lighting up every room he walked in, his giving heart, infectious smile, great sense of humor, listening ear, and being a blueprint to many of what a man of strength looks like.

Cedric touched so many lives and was a living testimony of the works of God. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Walker; sister, Demitra Walker; and maternal grandparents, Sylvester and Eula Mae Dennis.

Cedric leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Evelyn Walker, Kansas City, MO; sister, Natasha Walker, Kansas City, MO; aunt, Sharon (Mitchell) Alexander, Kansas City, MO; uncle, Glenn (Marquita) Dennis, Jacksonville, TX; uncle, Erly (Jewel) Polk, Raymore, MO; godsons, Cecil Martin Jr., Kansas City, MO; Fabian Bland Jr., Lee’s Summit, MO; Dez’Ron Bland, Kansas City, MO; Tyree Acklin, Aubrey, TX; Cin’Cere Caldwell, Kansas City, KS; Milton Hurley, Gladstone, MO; goddaughter, Damiya Morris, Kansas City, MO; long-time friend, Lisa Johnson Potts, Kansas City, MO; best friends, Keisha Cleaver, Independence, MO; Fabian Bland, Sr., Lee’s Summit, MO; and a host of relatives and friends.
