Chad Everett

Obituary

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Chad Everett, the blue-eyed star of the 1970s TV series "Medical Center" who went on to appear in such films and TV shows as "Mulholland Drive" and "Melrose Place," has died. He was 75.

Everett's daughter, Katherine Thorp, said he died Tuesday at his home in Los Angeles after a year-and-a-half-long battle with lung cancer.

Everett played sensitive doctor Joe Gannon for seven years on "Medical Center." The role earned him two Golden Globes and an Emmy nomination.

With a career spanning more than 40 years, Everett guest starred on such TV series as "The Love Boat," ''Murder, She Wrote" and "Without a Trace." Everett most recently appeared in the TV series "Castle." His films credits included "The Jigsaw Murders," ''The Firechasers" and director Gus Van Sant's "Psycho."

Everett was born in South Bend, Ind., and graduated from Wayne State University before moving to Los Angeles and becoming a contract player with MGM.

In perhaps his most memorable recent film role, Everett played a lothario who engages in a steamy audition with a young ingénue portrayed by Naomi Watts in director David Lynch's "Mulholland Drive".

Everett is survived by his two daughters, Katherine and Shannon, and six grandchildren. He was married to actress Shelby Grant for 45 years until her death last year.

I named my son after you. I wanted a girl and only had names for a girl, when I delivered a boy 50 yrs ago I did not have any names for a boy. You were my favorite actor back then so I Named him Chad.

Today is Chad,s birthday. I think of him and his precious Shelby enjoying each other in heaven. I also think of their two daughters who must be thinking of him on his special day. He may be gone but is having the best birthday imaginable being with family and his precious Shelby. I love you girls and as always Chad and Shelby.

Loved Chad Everett. He was very good looking, very charming, and his personality was sincere. Enjoyed every movie he stared in, and especially, Medical Center. He will be greatly missed! And I give my sincere condolences to his wife, family, and loved ones.

Dear Chad, You are sorely missed by me and thousands of admirers of your work as an actor and a humanitarian. You brought a smile to my face whenever I saw you on camera. Your love and devotion to your Shelby and your girls was awe inspiring. I can't wish you back to earth, so I just will thank God that he brought you home to heaven to spend your eternal life with Shelby. I cry happy tears!

I remember my parents watching Medical Center. My Dad was a Sunday School Teacher,so any programming my folks watched HAD to have a moral intent.I remember the open and theme music, but not the episodes.Watching now,the episodes are just as relevant today.Researching Chad and Shelby,I fell in love with them.Hollywood’s venue couldn’t hold their love back.Great to also know they loved GOD.I’m enjoying finding&watching their body of work.Rest in Christ

I loved Chad Everett on Medical Center when I was a child. I became a medical professional because of watching the cast. I was maybe 11-13, but strangely I understood the medical terms, although some of the cases or personal story went over my head. I lastly saw Mr. Everett on an episode of Supernatural, yes I´m older, but it was worth watching knowing that Mr. Everett would be a guest. Rest In Peace Mr. Everett I would like to express condolences to his family. Rest In Peace to Mrs. Grant.

Happy Birthday in Heaven today Chad. You are so loved and missed!
