Chadwick "Chad" Alan Carr
Chadwick "Chad" Alan Carr, 31, of Stanardsville, Virginia, an officer with the Greene County Sheriff's Office, died Thursday, June 4, 2009, while on duty.
Investigator Carr had been in law enforcement for seven and one-half years. He served in Northumberland County as an animal control officer, then transferred to Orange County as an animal control officer and was later assigned as an Orange County Deputy Sheriff. In March of 2008, Investigator Carr joined the Greene County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy. Recently he was promoted into investigations and assigned to the Blue Ridge Narcotic Task Force as a narcotics enforcement officer, a job he truly enjoyed and excelled. Also during his law enforcement career, he was an instructor at the law enforcement academy. A favorite past assignment had been that of a K-9 handler. Investigator Carr also was honored with the first ever Greene County Sheriff's Office Lifesaving award this past year.
Surviving are his two sons, William Blake Carr, age seven, and Aidan Todd Carr, age three, and their mother, Alicia R. Carr of Rhoadesville; his parents, Bob and Cathi Carr of Kilmarnock; two sisters, Stephanie R. Carr of Stafford and Amanda S. Carr of Callao; paternal grandmother, Daisy Carr of Pennsylvania and maternal grandmother, Irma Silvester of Chesapeake; two nieces, Aleigha R. and Ava L. Withers; a special friend, Amanda Amaral of Hopewell.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009, at the Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock. Interment will be at Wicomico United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wicomico Church, Virginia, with Full Honors.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the funeral home.
