I can't say why Chandra crossed my mind today, but when she did, I searched the Internet for her, and I was so saddened to learn of her passing. I knew Chandra many years ago when I worked for a city that was a member of NCDA where Chandra served as Executive Director. I found her to be an intelligent, compassionate, and fierce advocate for communities and the people who live there. I worked two years with Ruth at the middle school and Carl was my principal for many years at Muskegon Heights High School where I taught for 30 years.
