Charlie enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors. He had superb training in survival and navigation techniques in inclement weather and harsh surroundings. He invited me to join him on a trip to Bennett Pass on Mt. Hood to build and sleep in a snow cave. We went on January 8, 1994.
