I remember well how involved Mr. Allen was with our Advisory Committee with the Kent Skills Center. One of the Committee responsibilities was to assist in the evaluation of our students.
While testing a very shy student, Mr. Allen was able to put him at ease and draw out his knowledge and showcase his skills while performing his practical evaluation. He was able to help this young man be confident in his abilities and eventually led to his employment at the company where Mr. Allen...

Our sympathy to the Charles Allen family. We first knew Mr. Allen as a great neighbor and mentor to a number of young boys growing up in the SJV neighborhood. I later came to know him much better as he served on our Furniture Mfg. Advisory Board at the Kent Career Technical Center. He was very active assisting with curriculum and student evaluation.
