Charles ALLEN

I did not know Chuck in life, but I bought his book collection from an estate sale, hundreds of Science Fiction books bought from various stores around Florida. He put his name on the spine and the inside cover of each books, sometimes with hand written notes. It's obvious he was a voracious reader and a learned man by what he read.

He said he didn´t have many friends but the ones he had were the best kind and good people.

I fenced with Chuck at Dunedin FC decades ago, and kept up with him a few times in later years at the armorer equipment check tables at national tournaments. He had a keen, wry sense of humor. One Chuck moment I'll probably always remember occurred when I was walking into fencing practice from the parking lot. Chuck came screaming into a parking spot in an old red vehicle I think he only kept running with equal measures engineering skill, duct tape, and pure force of will. He got out, grabbed...
