Dr. Charles Edward Aull

Charlie was a teacher to my husband, Stephen Corwin, and a friend to me and my children. We would see him at McDonalds on Saturdays and he always came to talk and play with the children. My children, all grown up now, still remember him fondly. I am only sorry that my son, now a math major at Tech, will never get to experience Charlie as a teacher.

My condolences to Nancy and other family members and friends of Charlie Aull. Charlie was always an enthusiastic participant and initiator of social ministry activities at St. Mary´s and at Newman Community. The residents of the Juvenile Detention Home were always in his heart. More so than all the wonderful things he did was exceptional person he was--a very dear man. Nancy,and family:
Charlie was a great and like a family member to me. He reminded me a lot of my grandfather. I'm going to miss the conversations we had on the bus. CHARLIE WAS A DEVOTED FRIEND TO THE CHILDREN OF THE NEW RIVER VALLEY JUVENILE DETENTION HOME. HE ALWAYS CAME WITH A SMILE AND A DEEP CONCERN FOR THE CHILDREN HOUSED THERE. I KNOW THAT I SPEAK FOR THE STAFF AND THE CHILDREN WHEN I SAY HE WILL BE SORELY MISSED. To Nancy and the entire Aull family I wish to express my deepest sympathy. I regret that I could not be there in person but I am with you in spirit.
What I will always remember about Charlie is his untiring commitment to public service. The community has suffered a great lost and I have lost a friend. I take comfort in the belief that Charlie is now enjoying the rest that he richly deserves.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of our NAACP Executive Committee Member and friend. Dr. Aull was a civil rights activist and leader for many years and helped to bring positive change to this community. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of of sorrow. Mr. Aull was a regular passenger of the Blacksburg Transit ACCESS service. He was always interesting to talk with and had a wonderful wit. When I visited him recently while he was in ICU he was very appreciative of the card signed by the staff members of BT. He was very well thought of by staff and we will miss him. My thoughts and condolences are with Nancy and Mr. Aull's other family and friends. He was a very likable gentleman, and his contributions to our community are commendable and...

It is with deep regret to read of the passing of Charlie. He was a dear and loyal of our 'member 70's Sunday night bridge club'. He really loved being at the bridge table. Wish I could be there to say good-bye.
