I have wonderful memories of times my late husband, Bill Shepherd, and I spent with Charlie in the 1950's and 1960's. Thank you Charlie, for all you shared with us. May God be with you.

On behalf of United Way of Forsyth County, I would like to extend heartfelt sympathy to the family of Charles Babcock. He has been a most generous supporter of the community--thousands have been helped by his good will. He will be truly missed.

My first glimpse of Chuck was when he arrived as a freshman at Davidson College, and began unpacking into Georgia Dormitory. His clothes were so shabby that several fellow students wanted to take up a collection for him. His entourage of trunks and suitcases arrived the next day!

As a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, I was pleased when Chuck chose to pledge and affiliate with the brothers of Pi Kappa Phi. During the year that he spent in our midst before I graduated, our...

Charlie was like a family member. He encouraged our involvment in music and theater when we were young. We will always treasure our memories of him. He will be missed.

Reynolda House has lost a good friend.

I was simply stunned when I read Mr. Babcok's obituary in Monday's newspaper. We have lost a great man and a caring philanthropist and it saddens me greatly.

My sincerest regrets to the Reynolds family upon Charlie's untimely passing. As an extended family member, I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Charlie, but he seems to have been much loved by his friends and associates.
