Not sure what to say?

My grandmother, Susie Carpenter, was a long time Whitesboro resident. Her parents used to own the White Hotel where the current city hall now stands. My uncle was John E Carpenter, Jr. While going through some of his letters from WWII I found one from my grandmother that said, "Charlie Baum is now a POW. I hope he does okay." I decided to Google Charlie to see if he did okay. Evidently he and my uncle (born 1918) were friends. I am sad to find his obit but glad to find he had a great life....

I work for WISD I´ve noticed there is a plaque by the entrance of the primary school with Mr. Baum´s name inscribed. What really got my attention was the fact he was a survivor of the Bataan death March, sand a POW, as was my Father in Law. I also had many uncles and relatives that sacrificed so much in WWII. I would just like to acknowledge Mr. Baum for his service, and sacrifices. RIP sir Condolences Jim Hite Pottsboro, Tx

Charlie was a great teacher, good coach, and a hero to every student he ever taught.
