Charles David Bentley

My deepest sympathy to Sue and the family. I taught at Carroll County High School with Coach Bentley. He was a wonderful basketball coach! I lived across the road from Sue and David in Hillsville, Va. They were great friends and I´ve missed them so much. David leaves behind a great legacy of kindness, consideration for others, and love for his family.

Prayers for Sue, Matt, and Jared. Coach Bentley made a huge impact in so many lives and I am proud to say that I am one of them. The lessons taught may have been centered around success in basketball, but were so applicable to life. I know I would not be the person I am without his influence in my life. Coach Bentley will be missed!! I had the honor of playing Basketball for him at Carroll County High School. He also taught me alot of lessons about life. Good man and a heck of a Coach! Condolences to the family!

So sad to hear of coach passing. He will forever be known as Coach to me. He was a great leader and example of what a man should stand for and become. He was extremely tough on me and when I was there I did not appreciate it as much till I grew older and became a father myself. At that point I realized what he actually did for me in my youth. Wayne Sumner, Carroll County High School, 1979-1981. Never have I forgotten the life and basketball lessons Coach Bentley shared in his most enduring way. To this day I demand the same commitment and attention to detail from all my players that I learned under his most capable hand.
