On behalf of the 70th Infantry Division Association "the Trailblazers,", I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Blackmar family. Charles served as a lieutenant in G/274 during Operation Nordwind (the Ardennes-Alsace campaign). Personally, I met Charles when updating Snow, Ridges and Pillboxes, the history of the 274th Infantry Regiment. It was clear that no matter what his subsequent life achievements, his combat experience was never distant. Secretary, 70th Infantry Division Association

Judge Blackmar was always a model in whatever field he occupied at the moment: lawyer, soldier, writer, teacher, jurist. Missouri and the law have lost a great man. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

Our prayers and thoughts are with you all. The judge is an historic fugure, in both medicine and law, and his wisdom, intellect, grace, and wit will be truly missed. We are all the better for his having passed our way.
