Charles G. BLAINE

While I met with my godfather on only a few occasions, he was a fixture in my life and the Estabrook family since my father's early childhood. I knew Uncle Charlie to be ferociously brilliant and brave with life, seemingly indomitable, yet rooted in and ready with gratitude and love. It pains me not to be present tomorrow at his memorial service; this carries from Zurich my heart-filled salute to him and sympathies to his family.
