Charles Bonnett Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Robert Bonnett, 67, resident of Conroe, Texas, left our physical world to live with his Heavenly Father June 1, 2016 surrounded by his family after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Chuck's faith and family gave him incredible strength to fight. He dreamed of serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with his wife Rose. While he was unable to do that, he used his illness as his mission opportunity to serve the Lord, and share the teachings of Jesus Christ. Chuck was born to the late Charles and Ruth Bonnett in Nitro, West Virginia on May 3, 1949. Chuck was honorably discharged from the US Army where he served as a Staff Sergeant and completed 3 tours of duty in Korea. He was a decorated veteran and proudly served his country. In the Army learned electronics which would later serve him as he became a field engineer repairing MRI and CT machines, where colleagues described him as a standout in the field. Chuck earned his undergraduate degree during his time in the Army attending night school - a 10-year endeavor. While in the Army Reserves he completed his Masters of Business Administration from Central Michigan University. He wore many hats including High Priest with the LDS Church, Scoutmaster, 32nd Degree Master Mason, Shriner, OddFellow, Softball Umpire, Mentor, Jokester, Leader, Explorer, Teacher, and Fighter, but most importantly of all husband and father. Chuck was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend, Rose Laughlin on November 24, 1978 in Poca, WV. Chuck and Rose raised children and instilled in them discipline, service to others, and humility. Chuck had an adventurous spirit which he infused in his children, spending summers on the road to West Virginia and stopping along the way to always teach his family about history, science, and life. Chuck will be best remembered for his generosity, a listening ear, telling jokes, and making a joyful noise. His hobbies included genealogy, gardening, bird watching, coin collecting, his Thanksgiving Day calls, but most of all, spending time with his family. He wasn't particularly known for his delivery, but always had a good message. Chuck is survived by his wife of nearly 38 years Rose Bonnett, and his 6 children. Son Steve Bonnett, Ben Bonnett, wife Amanda; daughters Laura Koperek, husband David, Patricia Edmundson, husband Adam, Ardith Irvine, husband Bret, and Megan Moore, husband Donald Lee. He also leaves behind sisters Jeanne Kamer and Susan Bonnett; nieces Jessica, Susan, and Paige; and 9 grandchildren (with 1 on the way!), his pride and joy. A celebration of his life will be held at Cashner Funeral Home on Monday, June 6th at 10:00am. 801 Teas Rd, Conroe, Texas. Chuck's mission on Earth is done, and he is now patiently awaiting the resurrection of Christ.

Dear Rose

I am usually at a loss for words during times like this. I can't imagine how you're feeling right now and I won't pretend to know the loss that you're experiencing. What I do know is that while Chuck may no longer be physically with us, his memory will always be alive.
The two of you had a wonderful life together and raised five beautiful successful children. Whenever you are down remember what you did together and the example that you have set for your children and grand children. Most important please know that you're not alone. We are here for you if you need anything and you are always welcome to come here whenever you want. We are sending our love and support.
