Not sure what to say?

He is dearly missed. He was a great man who touched a lot of hearts. We need him now more than ever.

I wish I had met you, Charles. Peace to your family. Peace where peace is a long forgotten idea.

1992 Signing of The Sonoran Desert

As I sit here under the full moon, tears fill my eyes, because I am missing one of my dearest friends of almost 3 decades. My deepest sympathy to all who loved him. I know how much he would hate all this and probably say"for Christ sake, I'm not a saint", no you weren't Chuck, but none the less. This picture is of a signing at the Book Mark, owned by Ed Eggars, closed in 1998, I was the event coordinator. The Sonaran Desert text by Chuck and photographs by Jack Dykinga. The text was a...

My deepest sympathy to the Bowden Family. I was saddened to hear of his passing. Chuck was an excellent reporter and a man of integrity. His in depth knowledge of various subjects, fairness, writing skills and intellectual abilities were to be admired. Adios Chuck, y que Dios te vendiga.

My deepest condolence to the Bowden Family. I was saddened to hear of his Chuck's passing. Chuck, his former friend, Arturo Carrillo Strong, now deceased and I spent much time together discussing politics, our criminal justice system, the drug problems in the U.S. And Mexico. I was always impressed with his integrity, writing skills, deep knowledge of a subject and intellectual abilities. I'll always remember his rare, but distinct laughter.

Our book club has one of his books on the list to read this fall. He will be missed. Our sincere sympathy. Helmings

Since I encountered Charles Bowden in 1998, he has been a spiritual barometer for me. I believe there was no better, more important teller of truths in English, and that for the good of humanity, the targets of his mind should be extrapolated and the klieg lights of his intuition projected into the future by young American writers. We would all do well, I think, to study his singular ability to reveal the beating heart of news with a few deft strokes. Thank you to all who loved and supported CB!
