Andrews Mortuary and Crematory - Market Street Chapel - Wilmington Obituary

Charles “Chuck” Boyette Jr, age 59, of Wilmington, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 23, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Charles O. Boyette. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Melissa “Missy” Boyette; his three children, Ryan Boyette (Veronica), Alissa Boyette, and Bryson Boyette; mother, Alleyne Boyette; sisters, Marie Cristiano, Cherryl Boyette, and Carla Boyette; in-laws, Dr. Linda McCall and Mr. Dennis McCall, and George and Nancy Cockrell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved family members.

Chuck was born in Camp Lejeune, NC and spent his younger years in Belhaven, NC. He attended John A. Wilkinson High School, where he played football. He continued his football career as a born and bred Tar Heel, graduating with a double major from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1987.

Chuck was a hard worker and had numerous work ventures. He was a landscaper in high school, worked on a fishing boat as a young adult, was co-owner of Hard Bodies Fitness Center in Greenville, NC, was a business partner and dive charter captain at Bottom Time Dive Shop in Wilmington, NC, worked in finance, was a salesman at Balkcum Auto, in Wilmington, NC and for the last 18 years was co-owner of Wilmington Auto Wholesale.

Chuck enjoyed scuba diving, spearfishing, hunting, football, 4th of July celebrations in Belhaven, supporting New Hanover High School football, working in the yard, hosting oyster roasts, supporting the Carolina Tar Heels, spending time with family and friends, grilling steaks, and boating. In the words of Jimmy Buffet, “Yes I am a pirate, 200 years too late.”

Chuck was a beloved husband and proud father. His greatest joy was spending time with his children. He enjoyed watching his Baby Girl (Alissa) play softball, lifting weights with his sons, watching his Mini-Me (Bryson) play football, entertaining his kids with funny stories, weekends with Ryan at USAFA, and spending time on the boat enjoying water activities with his children and their friends. He shared his wisdom and life skills with his children to help foster their independence and growth. Because of his guidance and love, his legacy will live on for generations to come.

Chuck was a humble, selfless and Christian family man who lived his life serving and helping others, making a difference in the lives of many. His ocean-blue eyes, beautiful smile, huge heart, sense of humor, and larger than life personality will be dearly missed.

Not sure what to say?

So sorry for your loss. Chuck was such a good guy. Prayers for the family.

Melissa. I just heard about Chuck. (Dianne Montgomery texted me yesterday to let me know) I am so sorry about his passing. My prayers are with you and the family.

My 21-year-old daughter sought to find her first car and after much research, she found "the one". It was located at Wilmington Auto Wholesale. She nervously called the dealership to see if it was still there, to her surprise and relief it was. The friendly salesman went on to answer all her questions about the car and invited her to come take a look at it. We arrived at the car lot very excited and went in to speak with the salesman. Mr. Boyette was very pleasant and patient with us during...

Hello Missy,Cherryl,Carla and Marie, I am so sorry to hear about Chuck.
I have always looked up to him growing up visiting Cherryl and then working for him at Hard Bodies . Always a great guy.
I’m in South Carolina now still coaching and teaching, wish I could have gone to visitation.
But wanted to say sorry and if something I can do let me know. Being from a small town all of you were important in my life.
Take care Sport Sawyer

Chuck was an amazing Uncle. Whenever he was around, it was always a good time. I am so glad that I got to go enjoy a summer trip with him last summer, and sad that I won't be able to do it again! Rest in peace!

Will be greatly missed.

Chuck you are going to be missed I remember when I first met you at Dr. Boyette office where my mother Roberta Arthur (deceased) was working for your dad and I used to go there to help my mother and you use to say hello Jackie to me . I always thought your heart was as Gold as your mother and you didn’t see ANY COLOR and that’s what caught my eyes because of that . I pray for the family and I pray that God will strengthen and comfort them the days to come . You may be gone but you will never...
