Not sure what to say?

Over 55 years ago, I wandered into St. Michael's looking for a church to belong to. I found the Motet choir and the Bratts who made me feel welcomed and loved. Their music made worship more meaningful, and I think of them whenever I hear one of the hymns they taught us. They were always together, and together they still are. With love and gratitude, Kathy Fong

Dr. Bratt was one of the most inspirational and guiding forces in my music days at Boise State in the 70's. His love for composition and music theory was so inspiring! Throughout my life as a music teacher, I have used his instruction so many, many times. We were so privileged to be loved by him, I remember one hot afternoon in Harmony class, when someone asked him what the C. meant in his name. Dr. Bratt whirled around from the chalk board with a grin on his face and said, "Do I look like a...

Dear Mary and Family,
I am so sorry to learn of Griff's passing. We do not take the paper and did not learn that he died until tonight. We did not know that he had been sick and would have been there for his Memorial Service if we had known. Your entire family has been special to our family for as long as I can remember. My folks counted Griff and Mary as part of their closest friends. Griff was a special man with tremendous talent. He was part of the foundation of Boise State and...

I was so saddened today to read of Dr. Bratt's passing. He was so influential in my music theory background at BSU during the early 70's. When I came east to attend Peabody Conservatory for graduate work in piano, the Peabody faculty was curious as to why I was so well grounded in music theory. As soon as I mentioned Griffith Bratt, they smiled and shared wonderful stories about his years as a student at the Peabody. I know that I speak for many of my colleagues when I say "Thank-you, Dr....

Griff and Mary were foundational in my life and music. Blessings!

Words cannot express how much Griff Bratt has meant to me in the 49 years I have known him. He patiently guided me through Boise College as an organ major and sent me on to graduate school at Eastman, and beyond to my career as a theory and organ teacher in Tennessee. I treasure the moments I spent with Griff and Mary and will always be grateful for their guidance, encouragement and love.

I fondly remember Griff during my music education studies at Boise State. All my music harmony classes and him patiently explaining about "no parallel fifths". I also remember many a Christmas midnight mass service at St. Michaels Church playing violin with him at the organ,Mary singing in the choir, and Wally on cello. He was a wonderful teacher, mentor, performer and always seemed to be smiling and full of joy. He will be truly missed by many. My deepest condolences to Mary, Wally and...

Mary and family,

We were so privileged to know you and Griff and serve as your house cleaners for 15+ years. When we closed our business last year you were our oldest customers. We so enjoyed servicing you folks and I'm sure I speak for our old crew (Dave & Krista) as well. Dr. Bratt always kidded me about paying our service fee the source of many laughs. But Trudy and I also enjoyed his practice sessions on the organ (before he stopped playing it) but also his many impromptu...

Dear Mary and Family,
Thank you for all you have taught, by living such a beautiful example for me, and my family.
I have wonderful memories of working with you both, during the days long ago at Boise Tuesday Musicale.
May you be blessed with peace and comfort during this difficult time.
