Charles was an inspiration to me as well as a mentor as I sought to understand the history and culture of the Northern Shenandoah Valley. It was a great day for the Valley when he returned. May all his contributions to the world be honored and his reward in Heaven be great.

When I think of Charles Burwell, the father of one of my best friends, the first thing that comes to mind is that he was simply dashing. Second, he had an extraordinary sense of civic responsibility. I have to admit that Belinda's descriptions of his many contributions to his community influenced my life. Please accept my sympathies on your loss.
