Charles was my first Conference Minister. At his suggestion, I applied for the pastorate at North Congregational Church in St. Johnsbury. I told him I was not all that eager to move just yet from Londonderry. But Charles encouraged me to put my name before their Search Committee; it would be "good experience" for me, since I had come to the church by an unorthodox route. So I submitted my profile.
